Sam has been the Organizing Director with MASSPIRG since 2010 and in that capacity she manages 8-10 entry-level organizing staff each year to run student campaigns in the state of MA. She got her start as a campus organizer with WISPIRG at the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the 2008 elections. On her first campaign she worked with the campus vote coalition to help register over 12,000 young voters. After her first two years as a Campus Organizer, Sam spent some time as the U.S. PIRG Recruitment Director before moving into her staff-directing role with the Campus Team. While in California with the CALPIRG Student chapters, she ran the grassroots petition drive and city-council lobbying campaign to pass a plastic bag ban in L.A, effectively eliminating 3 billion bags from circulation. She has run canvass offices in Madison WI, Boston MA, and most recently oversaw 5 campaign offices in MA and NH that raised a collective $920,000 for PIRG and Environment campaigns. Sam graduated from Lawrence University in 2008 with degrees in Psychology and International Relations. She enjoys singing karaoke (particularly Adele) and recently started playing the ukulele.
